The Academic Circle of History Doctoral Students and the Academic Circle of Historians of the University of Gdańsk are honoured to invite you to participate in the 3rd Maritime and River History Conference, which will be held in Gdańsk on 20-21 March 2015. The first and second editions, held in 2011 and 2013, were attended by over 70 speakers from all over Poland.

The conference aims to address issues in maritime and river history in its broadest sense, including:

  • maritime policy
  • economy (commercial shipping, passenger shipping, fishing, rafting),
  • military (armed conflicts in the waters, navies, aviation and maritime landing craft),
  • shipbuilding (boatbuilding, shipbuilding, ships and vessels),
  • hydraulic engineering (ports, bridges),
  • discoveries and sea voyages,
  • underwater archaeology,
  • the culture and customs of “seafarers”,
  • marinism (the sea in literature and art)”

A detailed conference programme is available here.

The session will be held at the Faculty of History, University of Gdańsk (ul. Wita Stwosza 55). We anticipate 15 to 20 minutes for each speech (the decision will depend on the number of accepted submissions).

At the same time, we encourage you to publish your post-conference article in the third issue of the peer-reviewed scientific and didactic journal “Argumenta Historica”, published annually by the University of Gdansk in cooperation with members of the Scientific Circle of PhD Students of History of the University of Gdansk.

We invite you to like and share profile on facebookwhere you can find up-to-date information about the conference
