As reported by the local portal jaw.pl, a group of three divers were ice diving when the rope connecting the divers to the surface broke. Unable to find their way back, the divers surfaced in the middle of the reservoir in a small hole.
Unfortunately, the ice around it was too thin and so fragile that it prevented the group from getting out of the water onto its surface. The divers, struggling and calling for help, were spotted at around 3 p.m. by a chance stroller. It was he who alerted the emergency services and called for help.
The fire brigade and ambulance service soon arrived on the water’s edge. The firefighters went out onto the ice, and there, using a special sledge, they extracted and transported one by one two of the three unlucky ice-diving enthusiasts to the shore. One of the divers managed to get out on his own.
It can be said that the firemen, who are usually on high alert, were even more prepared for action on this day. Since the morning they took part in ice rescue exercises at Sosina.
