Yesterday, my friend Anna Kaczyńska died while diving on the Hańcza River.

We started the dive together, around 3 p.m. Ania was diving open circuit and it was by definition a solo dive.

My plan was to reach 100 metres on the slope and stay longer on the bottom. According to the plan and the gases (she was not diving on air, but on trimix in the bottom phase) Ania was to dive to 65 metres.

At a depth of about 55 metres I parted from Anna and followed the scooter to 100 metres, where I spent about 20 minutes. My total dive time was 120 minutes. Anna did all the decompression and after the dive she had gas in the cylinders and the valves were open .

I surfaced 30 minutes after Ania reached the surface. As I swam to shore, I noticed Anna lying on her back in the inflated wing. She was lying on the surface, face up, but not breathing and unconscious.

I started CPR and pulled Anna to the shore, where I called for help. The rescue operation continued, unfortunately without success. The dive was in no way a training dive.

I would like to express my condolences to the family and my deepest sympathy.

Anne was a very close person to me, my friend.

Goodbye Anna.
