Located in the Persian Gulf, Bahrain opens up an extraordinary opportunity for tourists! Now visiting this Asian country and diving in its azure waters, we will be able to take home something more than just memories. After 80 years, Bahrain has decided to open up the possibility of diving and pearl fishing for tourists to take home as souvenirs!

At a time when dive tourism still needs new, unique and increasingly unusual ideas to attract customers, the authorities of the Bahraini monarchy seem to be well aware of the potential and opportunities available. That is why the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA), the Ministry of Tourism there, has announced the opening of the first pearl diving expeditions.

The decision coincides with Bahrain’s plans to revive and rebuild the pearl fishing industry and protect underwater wildlife in the waters within the monarchy. Supporting diving initiatives is one of the elements to provide a vehicle for this, and in the process lure crowds of tourists from around the world.

Diving trips to catch pearls will only be available through licensed dive centres. The only site made available for such activities is Ras Raya Port in Al Muharraq.

Anyone interested in Bahrain’s newest diving attraction can get a full list of licensed centres and all the necessary information on a specially designed website.
