The German military decided to invest in this form of training after several divers lost consciousness during a test descent conducted as part of an exercise. Doctors wanted to place some restrictions on how long soldiers could stay underwater, but the command wants their elite unit to be able to last much longer than the recommended 2.5 minutes.
Anna knows what it takes to push yourself beyond your limits. She takes her commitments very seriously and has announced in advance that the training of German soldiers must last at least five weeks, and that a few days’ training is out of the question.
The aim is to gain the ability to stay underwater for six minutes, in a condition to perform tasks. Anna’s training classes were also enriched with rescue exercises, among other things. Especially in terms of extracting people from damaged submarines.
Anna von Boetticher plans to take part in the World Championships in South Korea in 2019. As for her personal plans, she dreams of diving with sharks.
