Verification of the functioning of the National System for Detection of Hazards and Alert (KSWSiA) is a cyclic undertaking resulting from the Regulation of the Council of Ministers. During the exercises there will be carried out actions foreseen to be undertaken after the occurrence of a threat of chemical, biological and radioactive contamination.

The main objective of the exercises is to improve the procedures for activation of individual elements of the KSWSiA through the use of a scenario of events introducing crisis situations, working out expert assessments and analyses, as well as recommendations as to further proceedings, checking procedures for the exchange of information or the method of coordination of actions carried out by individual services and institutions.

The CSCA checks included episodes involving the contamination of a Berlin-Warsaw passenger train with a radioactive substance, the discovery of a toxic agent by a civilian ship near the port of Dziwnów, and attempts to ship a package containing an improvised explosive device with a hazardous substance at the Cargo Terminal.
