Italian media have released further information regarding Saturday’s accident in the waters of Lake Garda. The identity of the Polish diver who is being sought by rescuers has also been confirmed.

Unfortunately, reports reaching us from yesterday were confirmed in Monday’s editions of Italian newspapers. The wanted Pole is 50-year-old Adam Pawlik from Katowice.

The popular ‘Herb’ appeared on the Garda accompanied by 5 friends and was supposed to be preparing for a record-breaking dive to a depth of 333 metres. If he managed to carry it out, it would be the deepest dive made by a technical diver in history (currently Ahmed Gabr 332.5m).

Adam Pawlik was an extremely experienced instructor and technical diver. During his career he trained generations of divers, and led a mass of demanding dives and explorations, both wreck and cave. Over the last few years, he published extremely interesting articles from his expeditions in our pages. He lived with passion, which he drew from and which he was able to instil in others.
