Eco-diving trip down the river Słupia 2020

In exactly one month’s time, on 13 September 2020, an eco-dive down the river Słupia will take place. This will be the second edition of the event organised by the Alpha Team association, which, after last year’s extremely successful edition, has decided to follow the baton and introduce canoeing to the calendar of local events.

In exactly one month’s time, on 13 September 2020, an eco-dive down the river Słupia will take place. This will be the second edition of the event organised by the Alpha Team association, which, after last year’s extremely successful edition, has decided to follow the baton and introduce canoeing to the calendar of local events.

The first edition of the Eco rafting on the river Słupia took place on 12 May 2019. The idea behind the organisation of this event was very simple – to gather as many participants as possible and do something useful while having a great time. The result? Surpassed the organisers’ wildest expectations…

The participants swam in any kind of diving suit or other suit ensuring buoyancy and safety, as well as in diving ABC. Along the canoeing route the participants pulled out of the water everything that should not be on the river bottom, and to make the whole process go smoothly, the canoeists and other watermen taking part in the canoeing trip helped them.

In this way, all the participants completed the several kilometres of the river together. At the finish line everyone received a commemorative medal and took part in a draw for valuable prizes, including diving equipment provided thanks to the support of sponsors.

Those who had to stay on the shore were not bored either. Families of the participants, fans and the youngest participants were provided with various attractions. At the end of the day, everyone warmed up over a common meal, ending the day with common conversations and good fun.

Organisers admitted that in 2019, interest in the event exceeded their wildest expectations, as there were 250 cleaners alone and a total of around 350 participants. This translated into a fantastic result of 1.5 tonnes of rubbish being retrieved from the river!

Therefore, it is not surprising that the local community decided to go ahead and organise another edition of Eco-canoeing down the river Słupia. Originally the event was to take place in May, but due to the pandemic the date was moved to September. So if you feel like having great fun combined with diving and cleaning up, you absolutely have to take part in the float!
