Already this Saturday, October 8, at 10.00 am, the 3rd Eco Diving Day in Gdynia will take place. During the entire action, volunteer divers, will take part in a joint cleaning of the Gdynia coast.
Last year, 120 divers took part in the event, whose efforts resulted in 1.5 tonnes of rubbish being brought to the surface! This year everyone is hoping that both the number of people and the amount of rubbish fished out will be much higher. The area to be cleaned is the marina basin of the marina in Gdynia, the Presidential Seafront and the Downtown Beach.
During the dive, there will be the opportunity to test the equipment of the companies that have announced their presence, and among them are: Aqualung, Santi, Mares, Bare, Gralmarine or Diving Solutions. An additional attraction will be an ROV from Gralmarine, which will film the divers’ activities underwater. Images from underwater will also be transmitted directly to the surface, where they will be displayed.
The safety of the diving participants will be supervised by comprehensively trained lifeguards. Among them are paramedics, WOPR lifeguards and chronometrists. In total, Eco Diving Day will be protected by about 50 people.
Since divers usually come with their families, those who remain on the surface have not been forgotten. The organisers – Ticada Diving Centre and GOSiR, have announced a festival with attractions for children, as well as the presence of many non-diving companies, which will have their stands, e.g. Acmotors will present Honda, Ducati and Triumph motorbikes.
Thanks to the support of sponsors, participants will be provided with a hot meal, drinks and commemorative T-shirts. An additional attraction will be the drawing of valuable prizes! You can win such rarities as: breathing apparatus, diving computer, diving package in Croatia, diving ABC kits, torches and many other useful underwater gadgets.
Sebastian Borek from CN Ticada and Piotr Bielski from Gdynia Marina are the originators of the whole action. The event was held under the honorary patronage of the President of Gdynia Wojciech Szczurek and the Commander of the Navy, Admiral Fleet Tomasz Mathea.
