For cave diving enthusiasts, the city of Willingen offers two interesting locations. These are the Schwalefeld and Christine I slate mines, hollowed out of the same mountain and flooded with water. The sites are well prepared in terms of visiting divers. The whole area is very well braced and the visibility under water is very decent.

If you decide to go to Germany to see for yourself what it is like in Willingen, you can be sure that the descents into the water are very comfortable and the dives that can be carried out are varied. Depending on the corridors you decide to explore, you can choose a ceiling between 20-32 metres deep or, for the more advanced, 40-70 metres.

However, when deciding on such an excursion, it is necessary to fulfil the appropriate formalities. The mine can only be visited by a maximum of 10 divers on one day. You must announce your arrival by sending the appropriate questionnaire and advance payment, as well as a scan of your full cave licence and diving insurance. Once you have made your reservation, all that remains is to pack your equipment and set off!

Underwater, many side passages branching off from the main tunnel await visitors. The entire route is scattered with mine equipment such as railway rails, mine carts and other similar equipment. The infrastructure in the vicinity allows for accommodation and relaxation after a successful dive in very pleasant conditions.
