On the occasion of Earth Day – 22 April, the Exploring Podwarszawskie Diving Group and the Raja Diving Centre from Warsaw, supported by the Eco Choice Foundation and the Municipality of Piaseczno, invite everyone to a diving cleanup of the Glinianka in Gołkowo near Piaseczno.

One dive is planned during which participants will clean the bottom of the reservoir. Volunteers will meet at 11.00 a.m. Participants will be given bags and free coupons for loading cylinders in Decathlon in Warsaw Targówek. The dive will be secured by the X-Divers team and Safe Water Associacion.

The whole action will combine cleaning the bottom of the Glinianka and the shoreline, so a family outing is advisable! Earth Day is an international action that aims to promote pro-ecological behaviour among the public.

Earth Day was celebrated for the first time in 1970 in San Francisco and was intended to be a celebration of the “life and beauty of the Earth”, combined with the promotion of ecological attitudes, while highlighting important issues. Already one year later the United Nations proclaimed the creation of World Earth Day. The sign for its beginning is the sounding of the Bell of Peace every year on 20 or 21 March, located in the UN headquarters in New York.

According to estimates, 200million people from 140 countries are participating in this event today! Although the UN celebrates World Earth Day in March, they also support the action during April. Many cities and countries extend the event by calling it Earth Week, which usually runs from 16 to 22 April.
