Diving accident in Lake Dymno. One person dead

On Sunday, 29 December, a man died in a diving accident. The incident occurred while diving in Lake Dymno, Pomeranian Voivodeship. Local media report that it all happened around 1.30pm, when 3 men came to the lake to carry out a dive.

The unfortunate incident occurred during ascent. According to available reports, the men accompanying the victim were trying to get him to the surface. Rescue services were called to the spot, including the Voluntary Fire Brigade in Koczale, the Military Rescue Unit in Miastko and the State Fire Service in Człuchów. The water and diving group from Kościerzyna was also notified, but it was eventually called off, as there was no need for it to take part in the entire operation.

It was the firefighters who took the diver from the water and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A medical rescue team also arrived on the scene and took over the initial attempt to save the man, unfortunately without success. Despite a lengthy resuscitation operation, the victim died. The circumstances of the tragic incident are being clarified by the police.
