Diveroid - underwater photography using a smartphone? - video

If you’re not interested in professional underwater photography equipment but have an enthusiasm for taking photos and would like to document your dives, then Diveroid could be the solution just for you!

Although Diveroid is not yet in mass production, the campaign on the popular Kickstarter portal has given the creators a real kick up the backside from the very beginning! Already on the first day (November 18th), a short while after launching the profile, the goal of $10k was reached. Now, 19 days before the end of the collection, the idea has been supported by almost $160k.

The above result shows how much support the idea enjoys and how high hopes it has from diving enthusiasts who would love to take their smartphones underwater. Diveroid aims to be an all-in-one solution, combining several essential functions for the diver – an underwater camera, an easy-to-read dive computer and a logbook.

The universal case is compatible with Samsung, Apple, Oppo, Xiaomi and many other brands. The Diveroid works by connecting the case to a detachable dive computer that communicates with an app for smartphones running iOS or Android.

At the moment it is still running Kickstarter campaign. We can support the creators of Diveroid and take advantage of the Ultra Early Bird option, and thus purchase the device and a set of accessories for $249. The finished products are scheduled to ship in February 2020.

However, it is important to remember that this is a campaign to support the creation of a product, not a pre-sale purchase. This type of action is always fraught with some risk. On the other hand, the goal of the campaign was to raise $10,000, so with $160,000 the creators should have no problem finishing the product.

Regardless of everything, it is certainly worth watching the further fate of the Diveroid, as it could become a real hit in the coming diving season.
