Author evening and book launch of "The Way of Death" live online!

Tomorrow, Thursday the 30th of January, at 6 pm, we will have the pleasure of meeting at the Naval Museum in Gdynia to take part in an extraordinary event. An exceptional book entitled ‘Droga Śmierci’ (The Death Road), written by Tomasz Stachura, will have its premiere.

In terms of the publication itself, but also the date and place of its premiere, there is no coincidence. The author’s evening was planned exactly on the 75th anniversary of the departure of the “Wilhelm Gustloff” on its last journey. At 18.00, on 30 January 1945, the ship left the port in Gdynia and set off on its last journey.

“The Road of Death” is an unusual item and, knowing the author, was prepared with great care and diligence. The book describes unprecedented historical events that went down in the annals as the greatest tragedy in the history of sailing. The sinking of the German ships “Wilhelm Gustloff”, “Stuben” and “Goya” by the Soviets, took a total of over 17 500 lives.

The unquestionable asset and strength of the book will definitely be the never before published underwater photographs, which were taken during a series of legal dives and documentation of the mentioned wrecks. I think that anyone who had the opportunity to get acquainted with the photographs of wrecks by Tomasz Stachura, will not need special reassurance about their highest level.
