Apeks is a well-known brand. A powerful manufacturer of diving equipment, associated with reliability and affordable prices. Although the market offers a full range of diving equipment from their factories, it is the scuba diving machines that are the flagship products of this British company.
In Poland Apeks breathing apparatuses prove to be excellent. Their quality is high, their reliability proven, and the similar conditions between our waters and those surrounding the United Kingdom have allowed them to take our market by storm at reasonable prices. After Apeks Flight, we would like to present you another very good product of this company – a set of TEK3 reels.
This is the first stage dedicated to two-cylinder sets, and for this reason we have a division into left and right. It is quite an original solution and I have encountered it for the first time with this machine.
In our box, apart from the mentioned pair of first stages, the set includes two XTX50 second stages, two medium pressure hoses and a rubber band for hanging the backup automat around its neck. Additionally, there is a CD attached to the whole set, on which we can find the manual for our automats. This set is marked on the box as “TEK set DIN”, but it is also available in the INT version.
The unique solution with the left/right distinction is primarily to help better positioning of the hoses in our kit, thus minimising the risk of them catching on something during the dive or bending and damaging them.

The TEK3 is a 1st stage definitely designed for advanced divers who go far beyond the level of recreational diving. Since it is intended for technical diving on two-bottle sets, the TEK3 1st stage has a modest number of 3 LP 3/8 “UNF ports and 1 HP 7/16 “UNF port. Such an arrangement provides enough space to connect the II stage on both sides, the manometer, inflator hose, or dry suit.
As in the case of the 1st stage DS4, similarly in the TEK3 the water chamber is isolated and filled with air, while the pressure transmission is handled by the transmitter. This solution excludes any impurities from getting inside and increases the resistance of the automat to freezing. Of course, it is a balanced 1st stage, which allows us to breathe just as easily, regardless of the pressure in our cylinder.
The Apeks TEK3 is an option which should be considered by divers who prefer wreck, cave and deep diving. This equipment is for skilled technical divers, as in fact it is they who will fully appreciate its advantages and utilise the profits it brings with it. Of course, recreational divers, using two-bottle sets, will also be satisfied with it, but its lower versatility in comparison with other 1st stage equipment should be decisive.
