According to the Italian embassy in Ankara, archaeologists from Italy’s La Sapienza University have found a cargo of amphorae and marble at both sites, in addition to the ships. This wonderful discovery in the Aegean waters will probably provide a lot of interesting information about the times from which they come.

Ms Eugenia Equini Schneider – the archaeologist who is conducting research on both sites – already says that the find confirms the important role played by the town of Elaiussa Sebaste on the ancient sea routes. Ms Schneider has been working in the region since 1995.
