World’s oldest diver – 99-year-old man breaks Guinness record!

Bill Lambert became the world’s oldest diver when he dived into the waters of Pearl Lake in Illinois, USA, on his 99th birthday. The American is living proof that it’s never too late to learn, as he took his diving course in November 2018, at the age of 98!

The elderly birthday boy celebrated his feat with a group of 30 divers who decided to mark the day and accompany the new record holder on his 20-minute dive. During this time Bill Lambert dived to a depth of 10 metres, diving around the wreck of a bus sunk for training purposes.

The previous record holder, 96-year-old Ray Wooleyenjoyed his latest record for just one month. Although it should be noted that the Briton has systematically renewed the record on 1 September, his birthday, for several years. Thus, it seems that the feat of the 99-year-old American has strongly thwarted Wooley’s diving plans for the coming years. At least the ones concerning further records.

However, we can be sure of one thing. Whoever the new record holder in the ‘World’s Oldest Diver’ category is, he or she will be at least 100 years old.
