Wodzisław Śląski-born German Paralympian Wojtek Czyz is training under the watchful eye of legendary Herbert Nitsch to try and break two CMAS world records in freediving. The founder of Sailing4Handicaps wants to become the first amputee athlete to do so without the use of a prosthesis.

The approach to the records will take place in Tahiti, French Polynesia and is scheduled for April 27 and 28, 2019. The former German representative aims for records in the CTW and DYN disciplines. In both, Czyz intends to use only one fin.

No one should be surprised if the 33-time world record-holder and holder of the almost absurd 253m record in the No Limit competition helps him with his preparations. After the accident that ended his career as an active athlete, Herbert Nitsch spent many months confined to bed and a wheelchair. Despite the poor prognosis, he not only got back on his feet but also returned to recreational freediving.

Both men are motivated by a desire to inspire others. Both disabled and able-bodied, to explore and develop their potential and skills.

As Sailing4Handicaps, Wojtek sails with his family aboard a catamaran and delivers prostheses to the needy in developing countries.
