Master and legend of free diving, William Trubridge, joined the initiative of freedivers who decided to organise a group Guinness World Record breaking event in the Maldives. The event was extremely important and the participants were personally supported by the President!

New Zealander William Trubridge, who holds numerous records and medals in the world’s most prestigious freediving competitions, was part of a group of 521 freedivers who set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of freedivers to simultaneously lead a plunge.

The initiative gained such publicity and was taken so seriously by the local community that the country’s president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih(a great name for a freediver by theway, hello Polish champion Magdalena Solich-Talanda ????) was also among the participants.

The record was set on October 1 in the waters near Baros Maldives Resort. The event was organised under the name “Neyvaa”, which means “breath” in the local language. Officials turned up at the venue so that the Guinness record could be officially recognised.

Thus, everything ended successfully and a new record was set after 10 years. The previous one had 280 people and was set on 11 October 2009 in Italy.
