One of the highlights of the programme will definitely be the lecture of the British legend of wreck diving – Leigh Bishop. The Englishman caused a real furore with his presentation last year, and considering his rich diving CV, he still has a lot to tell. Amazing stories, told with a real zest and characteristic English humour, are the hallmark of this charismatic figure.

Here is how Leigh’s lecture will be announced by the organisers:

“Seen by eye and lens – two decades of deep wreck exploration- triumph and tragedy”, is one of the two themes of Leigh’s presentation at the 4th edition of the festival.

A fascinating look at the world of deep-lying wrecks as seen through the eye and lens of one of the most famous wreck explorers. Wreck diver Leigh Bishop is one of the most recognised wreck explorers in the world, he has taken part in many expeditions documenting wrecks such as: Lusitania, Wilhelm Gustloff, Britannic, or the liner Egypt.

In this presentation he looks back over two decades of deep wreck exploration, Leigh has selected the most amazing and unforgettable moments, the most exciting discoveries and stories that, thanks to the efforts of many divers, live on in films and photographs. He will show his favourite photographs depicting the stories of one man who chose for himself one of the most dangerous sports in the world.

Fighting corrupt governments, crazy wreck owners, being locked up in prison, or surviving situations with a gun to your head, all in the name of wreck exploration. We will see wrecks from the colonial period, huge transatlantic ships, warships, we will hear conspiracy stories of ships stuffed with treasure, all based on exploration and often secretive dives bordering on death! The presentation will take us deep into the world and people exploring virgin and inaccessible wrecks, it’s a tale of amazing adventures, laced with a bit of good humour.

However, that is not all. Despite preparations for such a large undertaking, the organisers found a moment to think about others. The flag which accompanied the participants of the Sierra 2012 expedition has been donated to the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. You can bid for this unique exhibit at this link.

Finally, information for those who are looking for accommodation in Lodz. Cinnamon Hostel offers a discount for all guests who use the password “Wreck Festival” when booking a room. More information about accommodation you can find here.
