As every year, we all plan our holidays so as to spend them safely, cheaply and as pleasantly as possible with our loved ones. Until recently, Egypt was the favourite destination for diving tourism, as it fulfilled all the above-mentioned points. Unfortunately, due to the political situation that took place a few months ago, many people lost the feeling of security associated with trips to the Sinai Peninsula. Was it right? We asked Ewa from the Polish-Czech diving base Planet Divers in Dahab to answer the questions that might bother most of all those going to the land of the pharaohs.

Tom: How is the situation on the streets of Egypt in general?

Ewa: In Egypt there is peace, everything is running smoothly, in Dahab, even during the revolution, nothing was happening and we were running our business

T: And how have tourists reacted to this whole situation? Are there visible changes in the number of divers visiting Egypt?

E: Yes, there are definitely fewer people, the restaurants are looser, the streets are quieter, but underwater life is flourishing as there are no longer the crowds to dive as before.

T: And what is the mood of the people who visit you?

E: In general it is good, although many people have different fears because of the recent “revolution”, but there is nothing to fear, everywhere is calm.

T: Have recent events driven up prices?

E: No, as far as prices are concerned, they have been at the same level for over a year

T: So going to Egypt we don’t have to worry about our safety?

E: Not at all, it is calm and compared to the situation before the revolution, only the crowds of tourists have thinned out, which creates opportunities when negotiating prices for example in Marsa Alam, where there are practically no customers. As for security, once again I emphasize, neither during the revolution, nor now there was and is no danger

T: Thank you for the interview and best regards

E: Thank you and welcome to Dahab!
