Wet suit to protect against sharks - video

IBTimes has shown tests of wetsuit materials (popular wetsuits) formulated to protect the wearer from shark attack.

The suit, named ‘Elude’, is constructed using different coloured fabric and shapes on it. It should be ideal for surfers, freedivers and divers. Tests have of course been carried out in a shark environment.

Raw meat was placed in a special container. The meat was then wrapped in a test cloth and thrown into the water on a rope. The sharks approached the standard ‘packages’ without fear and tore the prey apart. However, when the meat package was strapped with the new pattern, the sharks gave up and swam away just before the final attack.

See how it looks in the video. The first foam shown makes the shark not see it, and the second is to warn them that the wearer is extremely dangerous ‘food’.

Both wetsuits presented reduce the chance of a shark attack. The online cost is around £400.
