Freediver from Tunisia Walid Boudhiaf carried out his attempt last weekend. The dive took place in the waters of the Red Sea, off the coast of the popular resort of Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt.
Walid Boudhiaf dived to a depth of 150 metres using a special sled. However, this was a transport option that was only possible one way. He therefore began the ascent process with a monoplane and his own power drive.

The successful attempt allowed him to beat previous record, which stood at 146 metres and was set by Greek freediver Stavros Kastrinakis in November 2015.
The Association Internationale pour le Développement de l’Apnée – AIDA does not officially recognise records achieved in the variable weights competition. Nevertheless, the Tunisian made his attempt under the supervision of an AIDA International judge.
