A new transport service awaits tourists visiting Australia, specifically one of its biggest attractions – the Great Barrier Reef. scUber is a vehicle thanks to which you will be able to see the largest coral reef in the world from a completely new perspective.

The opportunity for an unusual underwater trip was launched on Monday 27 May and will be available for the next week, until Monday 3 June. To take advantage of the scUber service, you need to log in to your account on the Uber app and book a one-hour ride. And yes, you should still prepare $1500, as that is the cost of this unique trip.

Underwater Uber picks up its passengers on Heron Island, Queensland. As you can easily guess, this service is dedicated to people who love the underwater world, but do not necessarily have the desire or ability to dive.

The scUber can take three passengers on board for an underwater stroll around the Great (albeit much over-used in recent years) Reef, submerging to a maximum depth of 30 metres.

The price may come as a bit of a shock, but the $1500 package includes an hour’s underwater adventure, pick-up by helicopter or boat and transport to Heron Island and back the same way.

Leanne Coddington, Queensland Tourism and Events general manager, said the partnership with Uber was helping to once again draw attention to the reef and its problems.

[blockquote style=”2″]”Consumer research conducted in late 2018 showed that exploring the Great Reef from a submarine, was the most requested tourist attraction to be introduced in the near future. scUber makes this wish a reality and reaffirms our commitment to growing tourism in Queensland and providing residents and visitors with extraordinary ways to explore the wonders of nature,” she said. The local authorities are extremely excited about the partnership with Uber and the opportunity to showcase the beauty of the reef through this innovative experience. They are all hoping that the coming week will be a great success and bring a lot of benefits.
