The luxurious Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort is tempting with another attraction. Situated on two islets connected by a bridge, it has for many years offered an extremely high standard in the villas available to guests, an underwater restaurant with glass walls and its award-winning spa.

Now a real treat for lovers of underwater experiences is added to the menu – the first underwater hotel! A two-storey villa submerged 5 metres below the surface of the Indian Ocean. The new attraction is called Muraka, which means ‘coral’ in the local Dhivehi language.

In addition to the bed, shower and other typical elements familiar to a hotel room, Muraka provides a higher level of luxury through a private gym, bar, edgeless pool, ocean view bath and most importantly… an underwater bedroom with fabulous ocean views.

The average mortal can only dream of relaxing in this luxury, as the price per night is only $50,000 and the minimum rental period is 4 nights, so a fat $200,000. As a consolation, the resort throws in a private chef for free (but only for the duration of the stay ???? ) and a boat for exclusive use.

According to official assurances, it was built with the utmost care for the environment and without interfering with the local ecosystem. Muraka was developed in Singapore and shipped to the Maldives by ship, before being placed on special pylons designed to protect the structure from wave action.
