The Trito DeepView submarine can take 24 passengers and a crew of a pilot and co-pilot. The maximum depth for the vessel is 100 metres, all in extreme comfort (the passenger can easily stand up and straighten up), with air conditioning and the possibility of admiring the underwater world through panoramic windows made of 14 cm thick acrylic.
As it turns out, the DeepView24 model is to be the first in a series of underwater tourist vehicles. Individual models will vary in size and will be able to accommodate between 12 and 66 passengers. The 24-passenger model measures 15.4 metres in length and weighs 5.5 tonnes.
The drive and control system is electrically powered and the whole thing is set in motion by two 20 kW (27 hp) thrusters and four 12.6 kW (17 hp) Vertran thrusters. Energy for the vehicle is supplied by a large lead-acid battery with a capacity of 240 kWh. This translates into 14 hours of underwater sightseeing, with a maximum speed of 3 knots.
Speaking of power, in case it gets too dark, the darkness of the depths is illuminated by ten 20,000 lumens LEDs.
The vehicle is controlled by a joystick and touch screen, and it is possible to switch to manual mode in the event of any malfunction, as the vehicle is certified to international classification standards by DNV-GL.
Triton DeepView 24 has been developed for Vinpearl, a luxury hotel and resort chain in Vietnam. It will premiere in December 2020 in the waters surrounding the Hon Tre Islands in Nha Trang. In the manufacturer’s own words, it is a “quantum leap” from any other underwater touring vehicle built in the last 34 years.
