In an attempt to identify the find, the divers opened one of the bottles and tasted its contents. They assumed it was a Veuve Clicquot produced between 1772 and 1785 and sent by sea to the capital of tsarist Russia – St. Petersburg. This is partly confirmed by the expert examination of the shape of the bottle, which points to the late 13th century. The bottle and its contents were sent to France for further analysis.

The preliminary value of the find is SEK 500 thousand per bottle, which is about PLN 220 thousand. The local authorities will decide on the further fate of this pearl of the Baltic Sea.
