When Canadian filmmaker Rob Stewart died in a diving accident off the coast of Florida, it came as a huge shock to all the communities he was involved with. At just 37 years old, Stewart was at the best time of his life. Both as an environmental activist and a filmmaker. It was then that the end of his journey unexpectedly came…

Media reports suggested that, still inexperienced as a CCR diver, Stewart was induced to perform a dangerous and ultimately fatal dive by an instructor. Some commentators on the accident even went so far as to claim that the instructor had survived the dive by going out onto the boat first and leaving Stewart to die.

A civil case set up by Stewart’s parents was also said to point the finger of blame at the dive organiser, Horizon Divers, who took him to the deep and experience-intensive wreck. The organiser allegedly failed to do his job properly and left the Canadian filmmaker in the water, where he died.

All of the above reports, while dramatic, do not coincide with the analysis of the accident that has been conducted, reports Canadian website cbc.ca. Rob Stewart was not a novice diver. He was a diving instructor and had about 10,000 dives to his credit. He had also used a rebreather before filming for his latest movie. So why did someone with his experience decide to make a deep and dangerous dive for the third time on the same day? – ask Canadian journalists.

Filmmaker Robert Osborne, himself an experienced technical diver and journalist, launched an 18-month-long and highly detailed investigation that is meticulously detailed in ‘The Third Dive: The Death of Rob Stewart’. Blamed for Stewart’s death, Peter Sotis tells his story of what happened that day.

Dr Thomas Beaver, a medical expert, in an exclusive interview shares his concerns that his work has been manipulated from the start. Osborne uncovered never-before-seen footage from the night of the accident and revealed a copy of a secret report that challenged much of the fake news circulating online.

“The Third Dive: The Death of Rob Stewart” seeks to get to the truth to find out the story behind Rob Stewart’s death. It is a disturbing portrayal of lives ruined, allegations of evidence tampering, a community that protects its own to avoid bad press and the despair of friends and family who are not ready to hear about the calculated risk Stewart took.
