Russian actress and freediving world champion Marina Kazankova and her partner Dmitry Malasenko, freediver, designer and artist, set a Guinness World Record for the longest underwater breath-hold dance. The pair performed their spectacular underwater show in the deepest pool in the world – Y-40.

A lot of freedivers, divers and other spectators arrived on the spot to admire the show taking place in the water through the glass parts of the pool. As the new record holders admitted, the presence of such a large audience provided additional excitement and added splendour to this wonderful event.

The freedivers, on the other hand, also did their best to make the show as attractive as possible and decided to perform their choreography not on the floor of the pool, but on a rope stretched between its walls! Afterwards, they admitted that it was not that easy to keep their balance on the rope, even though everything was happening underwater.

[blockquote style=”2″]”I had a gorgeous coral dress, created especially for the Record, by the talented designer Olla Makeeva. Both the colour and the silk material were chosen to give the right effect underwater. The whole show had a script and music composed for it, created by Omura, who helped us a lot to synchronise our movements!”[/blockquote]

The artists got so carried away that instead of the planned 3 min 15 sec, the whole show lasted 3 min 28 sec!

Art and freediving have come together to bring harmony to the world and show people that freediving is not an extreme sport, reserved only for heroes, but also a great way to express yourself.
