Suunto EON Steel software update

Suunto, the manufacturer of the EON Steel dive computer, has announced the availability of the latest software version for the unit. The 2.5 update introduces a number of significant changes, significantly changing the capabilities of the computer.

Updated diving algorithm

A press release released with the update announces that it will give EON Steel new features and improvements. One of the changes includes an updated decompression algorithm. The computer will now use Suunto Fused™ RGBM 2, developed in collaboration with Bruce Wienke.

The main purpose of this change is to allow users to conduct a variety of dives and in particular to support deep air dives, providing a better optimum dive time.

Key benefits of Suunto Fused™ RGBM 2:

– Optimised ascent times for deep decompression dives with air
– Extended dive times for repetitive dives
– For decompression dives, it is possible to choose between a step ascent profile (stop every 3 m) or a continuous ascent profile
– Consequence of further development of the calculation – airtime
– Three-minute safety stop after removal of long decompression stops
– EON Steel with Fused™ RGBM 2 algorithm supports open and closed circuit diving

Mobile connectivity via Suunto app

The Suunto app makes it easy to keep an electronic logbook of your dives. When you get out of the water, you can easily transfer data from your computer to your phone using Bluetooth. New features have been added here, too, to increase its usability and enrich your dive logs.

An enhanced and enriched summary page helps you analyse your dive, showing average depth, CNS and OTU levels, as well as your personal dive settings. If you are using a Suunto Tank POD, you can also track your oxygen consumption trend and SAC.
