Shearwater Research appoints new CEO and VP sales & marketing

Shearwater Research, a manufacturer of diving computers and electronic control systems for rebreathers, has announced a change in its CEO position.

Jason Leggatt will replace current CEO Jim Hartt, who will retire on July 31, 2023.

Lynn and I would like to thank Jim for leading Shearwater for the eventful last four years and wish him well in his retirement. We are also confident and excited about the continued success of the company under Jason’s leadership – Shearwater founder and board member Bruce Partridge said.

Jason Leggatt has more than 22 years of experience in the maritime industry. Among other positions, he previously served as president of Mustang Survival, a leading personal protective equipment company. Leggatt has experience leading an iconic Canadian brand and has the right reputation to build new strategies for the brand that honor the founders’ DNA of innovation, product excellence and North American manufacturing.

Jason is an exceptional leader with a proven track record in the marine industry. He is the right person to lead Shearwater into the future, and I am confident that Shearwater will continue to thrive and deliver great products and experiences to our customers – is how retiring CEO Jim Hartt summed up his successor.

In addition to the CEO position, there is another new face at Shearwater Research – Vice President of Sales and Marketing Josh Horoshok. Horoshok has many years of experience in the outdoor industry. In the past, he has worked with many large and small brands in the manufacturing and retail sectors. As a creative person with a vision, he has a great passion for building brands with deep-rooted goals and driving product excellence for consumers, so he seems to be the ideal candidate for this position.

With the addition of Jason and Josh to the executive leadership team in their respective roles, Shearwater Research is well-positioned to continue enhancing our products and service in all markets globally, and explore new possibilities under the water. I’d like to join Bruce and Lynn in thanking Jim for his contributions and I look forward to working closely with Jason and his team – added Rashad Rahman, chairman of Shearwater’s board of directors.
