From 21.09 to 11.10 in the Forum Shopping Centre in Gliwice, at Lipowa 1 Street, a unique exhibition is taking place. For the first time in Poland, “Sea Giants” are presented, which tens of millions of years ago were swimming in our seas and oceans. How much more difficult the life of divers would have been in those times, due to the danger of carnivores!

In the coming days, you can admire 12 large, now extinct animals completely free of charge. Every day, Dr Andrzej Boczarowski, an outstanding palaeontologist, scientist and explorer, together with his assistants, give lectures to pupils who participate in interesting and instructive classes. The topics of the meetings are very interesting: “The Age of Sea Monsters”, “Sea Predators”, “The Whole Truth about Reefs”, and finally “Organisms Emerging from Water onto Land”. By the way, divers are organisms that come out of the water onto land only to return to the water as quickly as possible.

The educational exhibition Sea Giants is very popular and the great prastwors from the uncharted depths are impressive. As Mr Marek Thorz, responsible on behalf of Forum Shopping Centre for contact with the media, assures, there are no so-called “free runs” and some groups even number 80 pupils. To register a class for a tour and to attend a lecture, you need to make an appointment by calling: 32 335 73 00. I will say frankly: it is worth it!

The presented giants are even over 10 m long, and each of them has been provided with an information plate in Polish and English.

Among other things, I learned from one such plaque that today’s leatherback turtle is a relative of the extinct Archelon, the largest sea turtle ever to inhabit the earth.

The exhibits and their colours faithfully reproduce real animals that lived years ago in the climate of the time.

Interesting fact: there is a competition for the best 5 photos of sea giants – the prizes are cinema tickets to any screening; details on the website.
