A news release issued by Cypriot media explained that both men were found in good condition and their lives are not in danger. Rescuers were searching for the missing men as part of a rescue operation organized by the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) in Larnaca.

According to the statement, the JRCC, upon receiving a report that two divers were missing, immediately activated the “Nearchos” national search and rescue plan. A National Guard helicopter and several vessels were dispatched to the area of operations by those in charge of the operation. Port and marine police officers, lifeguards from the Paphos district and the Paphos police patrol took part in the search.

Rescuers located the first diver at 11:20 a.m. The man was spotted by a patrol on a police speedboat. A little later, at 12:15, the second of the missing men was found. This time the floating diver was spotted by a National Guard helicopter.

According to the published press release, both divers had signal buoys with them, which helped rescuers spot the missing. As life shows diving buoy, it is a key piece of equipment that can come in handy in many situations. That’s why it’s worth owning your own copy and practicing using it regularly.
