The documentary film ‘War Zone’, made in Florida by Force Blue Coral, premiered in recent days. The production was recorded in just one week, during dives in the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

The aim of the War Zone document was to highlight the efforts made by Force Blue Coral to counter and stop the further spread of a disease plaguing the local coral reef.

The Force Blue Coral crew worked with professional directors and photographers in the persons of Jim Hellemn and Michael Johnson of Blue Ocean Art during the making of the documentary.

[blockquote style=”1″]”The tragic toll the disease is taking on the reefs of South Florida and the Florida Keys is terrible… But it is amazing to see the amount of work being undertaken by Force Blue Coral and their scientific partners and the results it is generating. The enthusiasm and energy of these warriors makes me feel that this fight can be won. I hope our film together will help.” – said Hellemn[/blockquote].

Over seven days, filmmakers shot 22 interviews with leading scientists, researchers, research operators and members of the state government to highlight the problem of the spread of the disease on Florida’s reefs. Interviewees discussed the ailment itself afflicting corals, but also its devastating effects and the efforts being made to stop it escalating further.
