Experienced diver rescued in a cave in Tennessee! – video

An experienced member of the elite dive team that helped rescue 12 football players and their coach from a flooded cave in Thailand last summer was himself rescued last Wednesday after he was reported missing from a cave in northern Tennessee.

On Wednesday morning, emergency services received information about a missing cave diver who was exploring Mill Pond cave, located in Jackson County, in northern Tennessee. It quickly became clear that the person being sought was experienced cave diver Josh Bratchley, who had been exploring the cave for several days with a group of other divers from the UK.

The dive team surfaced after completing a dive from Mill Pond cave on Tuesday evening. Unfortunately, at the surface, it became apparent that Bratchley was missing among those present. The team immediately carried out an initial rescue operation on their own, and when this failed, local authorities and emergency services were notified.

The first rescuers to arrive on the scene located an air chamber, with enough oxygen for at least a day. A rescue diver found Bratchley alive just in this part of the cave, just before 7pm local time. The rescued diver was in good shape and it is fair to say that it only ended in a scare. After an initial assessment by medics, he declined further assistance and hospitalisation.

The route covered by the team of British divers is only 120 metres, at a shallow depth of no more than 15 metres, unfortunately the biggest difficulty here is the practically zero visibility, so it takes between 30 and 45 minutes to complete the section.

Josh Bratchley was involved in the most famous dive rescue in recent years. We are of course talking about last year’s events in Thailand, where a group of Thai young footballers and their 25-year-old coach were trapped in a flooded cave. Fortunately, in both cases everything ended with a happy ending.
