Premature end to Santi’s 8th expedition Finding the Eagle

Unfortunately, due to unfavourable weather conditions, the participants of the Santi Odnaleźć Orła 8th expedition, searching for the wreck of the legendary Polish submarine ORP “Orzeł”, decided to end their work at sea early and return to the port of Thyborøn. Unfortunately, the main objective was not achieved and the wreck has still not been found.

The early cessation of the search, however, does not mean that the expedition was a failure. During the 8 days of work, a number of tasks were carried out, which made it possible to examine 183 positions, 83 of which were wrecks. Thus, another area was excluded from the search, narrowing the range of possibilities for the future.

The participants themselves, despite being depressed for a while, quickly regained their good mood and enthusiasm, which accompanied them throughout the expedition. This year, thanks to frequent social-media reports, we could all get excited about what was happening on board the vessel “Nemo”, which became the centre of events during the expedition.

The organisers have also announced that they will soon present a report on the searches carried out during the 8th edition of the SOO.
