Not long ago, we published a text by our editorial colleague Wojciech Zgoła, in which he appealed for action beyond all divisions to maintain the diving character of the popular Krakow diving site – Zakrzówek. Today, we can announce that we have succeeded and in the vote of the inhabitants of Krakow the concept closest to the hearts of amateurs of underwater experiences has won!

A total of 18,100 Kraków residents took part in the vote, with 8,742 voting for the winning project, which includes the creation of a diving base in the Zakrzówek area, but also cycle paths, sports pools and pools for children and weak swimmers.

In addition to attractions including water activities, there will also be an open-air gym, a trial bike track, a playground and a skate park. Sports enthusiasts such as slackline, frisbee, badminton etc. will have access to a large mown meadow. There will also be climbing rocks and special viewing points. Pet owners, on the other hand, will have two large runs for their pets.

After a large dose of physical exertion while enjoying the abovementioned attractions, guests visiting the new Zakrzówek will be able to organise a picnic or barbecue in specially adapted places. Of course, in the most popular diving site in the region, such basic things as toilets, waste bins and an appropriate number of parking spaces have not been forgotten.

The complete project is expected to be ready in spring 2017 and the best one will be selected through a public procurement. The next step will be to obtain all the required permits and complete all the documentation, and then the construction work will begin. They will last until the summer of 2018, when the official opening of the new, modern Zakrzówek will take place. Interestingly, the entire infrastructure will be largely based on renewable energy sources.
