According to archaeologists, the sword is in excellent condition. Only the tip of the blade is damaged, but it is hardly surprising, since the sword was found embedded in solid rock. This is an extremely valuable find, as it is the first time that an artefact of this type has been discovered in the region.
Divers from the BUK diving club found the sword in the waters of Vrbas, at the height of the village of Rekavice, near the medieval fortified castle of Zvečaj. After thorough cleaning and conservation, the sword will be stored in the collections of the Museum of the Republic of Srpska, where it will be available to visitors and all those interested in the medieval past of the town and its surroundings.
