As in many similar cases in recent weeks, the “culprit” of the discovery is the record low water level. In this particular case in the San River. This made it easy for the two men in the area to track the boat and even reach it to find out exactly what they were dealing with.

The men, who live in nearby Piskorowice, informed the duty officer of the Leżajsk Police Station about what they had found and what the find probably was.

Among the items found are three rifles, two sapper shovels and other military equipment. The whole has been taken away and handed over to the conservation officer.

A demining patrol from the 16th EOD Battalion in Nisko also examined the find. There was a high risk that dangerous materials could be found at the site.

“With the help of specialised equipment, both parts of the boat were pulled ashore. During their extraction, sappers checked the contents of the boat and found a sapper’s shovel, a rifle and several dozen pieces of ammunition,” a spokesman for the Regional Police Headquarters in Rzeszów informed.
