Father’s Day 2021

Thanks to the power of the internet and social media, Jennifer Dowker managed to contact Michele Primeau, the daughter of the letter’s author. Sadly, George, who “sent” the message in the little green bottle into the future, died in 1995. His 74-year-old daughter recognised her dad’s handwriting and was very moved and happy by the fact that the letter arrived exactly on Father’s Day.

A small bottle containing a letter dated 1926. It turned out that the author of the letter wrote and sent it just before his 18th birthday. Moreover, Ms Primeau said that her father was in the habit of leaving other people letters to be found.

I couldn’t believe it all. It was so unusual because it was Father’s Day this weekend and it brought back so many memories of him. I knew straight away that the letter was written by my dad! He was very sentimental and often did things like this Michele Primeau, daughter of the letter’s author, said

Letters in a bottle and other objects from times long (or recently) gone by are a constant feature of many dives. An attentive diver can easily pick out items that are not an integral part of the underwater landscape. Sometimes they are just rubbish, and sometimes they are real treasures.

About author

Julia
My love for scuba diving started as a 12-year-old in the Canary Islands, at which time I took my first Open Water Diver course. This love for the blue turned into a huge passion that accompanies me to this day. Although blue is hard to come by in the Baltic, no conditions are terrible for me. In this sport, I find peace, patience, courage, focus, and balance. I have recently started to engage in underwater modeling and I am fulfilled with this.
