On Tuesday, 23 June, the 11th CMAS World Freediving Championships 2021 began. At the competition held in Belgrade our representatives have already won two medals.

Two best Polish freedivers presented themselves very well at the just started Pool Freediving World Championships! Magdalena Solich-Talanda and Julia Kozerska won their first two medals. Both ladies were competing in the dynamic discipline without fins – DNF, where the longest distance swum under water decides the result.

CMAS World Freediving Championships Belgrade Magdalena Solich-Talanda, which since 2017 has been AIDA world record holder in this event (191 m), with 189 m she won the silver medal. In turn Julia Kozerska, who holds the CMAS world record (196.95m) in the 50m pool from 2019, achieved a distance of 169m. As a result, this result allowed her to stand on the lowest step of the podium and win a bronze medal.

Croatian Mirela Kardasevic became the new world champion. The athlete from the Balkans equalled Solich-Talanda’s world record and won the gold medal with a result of 191m. Although it is worth mentioning that in the DNF competition Kardasevic holds the CMAS world record (208m) in a 25m pool.

The Croatian’s result set at the 11th CMAS World Freediving Championships 2021 is also a new Croatian CMAS record in the 50m pool.

In conclusion, it is worth noting that there are still a few competitions ahead of us in which the representatives of Poland have a chance to win medals. That is why we will eagerly await further information from the Freediving World Pool Championships held in Belgrade.
