In Cyprus, 200 divers aim to break Guinness record

Two hundred diving volunteers are going to break a record in Cyprus and enter the Guinness Book of Records by setting the longest underwater chain made of people. The venue for the attempt will be the coastal waters of Molos in the old port of Limassol, and the whole action is expected to be completed within three hours.

As the organisers declare, divers from all corners of Cyprus will take part in the attempt, but also many visitors, who in this way decided to make their stay on this beautiful island more attractive. Especially since the aim of the whole event is not the record itself, but the promotion of diving and Cyprus as an ideal holiday destination.

Although the event is scheduled to last three hours, the immersion itself will only take ten minutes. According to the registration list, the number of participants is expected to exceed two hundred people.

Diving schools and centres from all over Cyprus, representatives of individual diving organisations, as well as individual divers who want to support the action and have a good time will all be involved in achieving the result. After all, it is well known that often the biggest problem for divers, is to find a purpose for diving other than the dive itself.

Before the participants of the Molos dive, the record was set by the Italians, who gathered in a force of 173 people in 2015. The event took place on the island of Elba and was organised by the RAID Italia team. We recently mentioned that this year they set another record by collecting The highest number of divers during a night dive.

“We care about this record and we intend to do everything so that we can achieve it. We want to show how great and safe a sport diving is,” explain the organisers.

“Because of the climate, the diving season in Cyprus lasts all year round. We want people to know about it and remember that you can come here at any time of the year and have a great experience underwater. We are sure that the event will be a great success.” – they add in conclusion.
