He fled from the FBI on a diving scooter

A 44-year-old man suspected of financial crimes tried to escape from the pursuing FBI agents using a diving scooter. During the chase, he got out of the car on the shore of a lake and then disappeared under water!

The situation described above took place in California. Federal prosecutors knocked on the door of Matthew Piercey, a man suspected of committing $35 million in fraud, to make an arrest. However, Matthew had a very different plan for the day…

The man got into his pickup truck and began an escape that led him to the shore of Lake Shasta, the largest body of water in sunny California. After stopping, the fugitive grabbed the equipment on the trailer and disappeared underwater!

red diving scooter Federal agents have probably seen a lot of things in their line of work, but this situation certainly took them by surprise. After all, it’s not every day that a suspect tries to elude them in Hollywood style. Unfortunately, life is not a movie, and Shasta Lake is almost 900 kilometres from the Dream Factory, so the man being pursued by the FBI could only dream of a happy ending.

After 25 minutes underwater, he realised he was in a no-win situation and allowed himself to be arrested. It is worth mentioning that in all his haste, he was unable to put on his complete diving gear and emerged from the freezing waters of the lake with symptoms of hypothermia. He was given assistance on shore and then taken into custody.

According to information available in the US media, he faces 20 years in prison for his crimes.
