There are many indications that on Tuesday afternoon, 26 May, the corpse of the murdered woman was found during the first day of the search.

The search for the remains of the 21-year-old woman was conducted in the waters of Lake Dywicki by Marcel Korkuś, who is well known in the diving community. The diver found a bag that probably contains the remains of 21-year-old Joanna Gibner, who was murdered in 1996. However, it is necessary to verify the finding. The famous case from the mid-1990s may soon find its end.

The search team is planning to excavate the bag tomorrow, in cooperation with the police. There is still no 100 per cent certainty, but the searchers are optimistic that the body of the murdered woman will finally be found and the drama of Joanna’s family will end.

The case of Joanna Gibner, who was murdered by her husband, received a lot of attention in the media, but also in forensic circles. It was one of the first circumstantial trials in our country, and the verdict set a precedent at the time. Today, the courts are much more likely to decide on guilt in cases of this kind.

Marcel Korkuś is known mainly for Guinness record holders in high altitude diving. However, apart from that, he is also an expert witness and a professional diver involved in search operations. Due to his extensive experience and specialised equipment, he has provided support to search services on many occasions.
