Since 1970, SSI has been creating cutting-edge educational programmes and was the first certification organisation to implement a digital training model back in 2006, introducing a new portal dedicated to SSI divers and instructors – MySSI. Since then, the organisation has continuously developed its online training offer, making it fully available since 2015. The system created by SSI combines training materials, training enrolment, logbooks, as well as marketing and communication tools.

Training in the History of Diving and Diving Education begins in 1970 with the vision of SSI’s founders and leads up to the present day. You will learn about the early years of diver certification in the 1970s and the importance of building a solid foundation of training centres around the world. You will then learn more about the realities of the 1980s and the associated surge in popularity of diving. In turn, the 1990s show significant technological advances in diving equipment and the introduction of digital training.
