"Flatfish and sunset" official DAN Europe photo for 2020

Traditionally, DAN Europe has selected and presented one photograph to adorn the organisation’s membership cards in the coming year. The beautiful photograph “Flatfish and Sunset”, by Renee Capozzola, was selected in the Abissi Underwater Photo Contest in Venice.

The announcement of the winner took place on Saturday, 26 October, in the building of the 13th century palace on the Canal Grande, which houses the Natural History Museum. More than 100 divers invited by DAN Europe gathered on site. The award means, among other things, that the photo will appear on 110,000 cards that will go to DAN members in Europe, the Middle East and the Maldives.

“I have been a member of DAN since becoming certified in 2004. I think it is important for divers to have protection and peace of mind when travelling and diving. Fortunately, I have never had to use DAN’s help, but I am sure I can count on them if I need them!” – Renee Capozzola said.

Renee Capozzola is an internationally renowned and award-winning underwater photographer, specialising in wide angle and half-and-half shots. Her work is an intriguing combination of artistic talent, honed at a young age through oil painting, and professional experience in the field of biology. She is originally from California and the ocean has always been an important part of her life.
