Loaded with equipment we reached Berlin, it was less than 500km. That’s a big difference from last year, when we travelled 2500 km one way to Narvik. We got some interesting information about our expedition, but we won’t give away the details at the beginning and we’ll keep you in suspense a bit.

We are already there. The hotel is great. It is located in an old 120-year-old building. Full climate. Yesterday evening, we spent on sightseeing Istanbul. These few hours are definitely not enough. We are all impressed by the city. Istanbul is a huge agglomeration with 17 million inhabitants (10 million live on the European side, 7 million on the Asian side). We were at the end of Ramadan. The three-day festival of breaking the fast of the Tur. Sheker Bayram and the whole city was outside. Parks, squares and quays are full of people happy that they can now drink and eat to their heart’s content. We finished the evening with dinner at a local restaurant. I must say that Turkish cuisine is excellent. The place where the restaurant was located resembled the colourfully lit centre of Amsterdam. Only the view of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia made us realise what a special place we were in. Today we set a diving plan for the expedition, and then it’s time for rest and acclimatisation. We must finally get some sleep. I haven’t had much of this pleasure since Tuesday, and the time zone change doesn’t help at all…

Aha, Kassa was left without luggage… German precision did not work this time. Someone didn’t put his bag on the plane and it stayed in Berlin. Kassa is distraught…

Until we hear from you,

General and Romano

Soon we will have a further report from our friends on their trip to Turkey and the first underwater photos. We hope you are looking forward to it as much as we are!
