Fatal accidents cause investigation into snoorking masks

Recently, there have been several fatal accidents in the USA among people indulging in snoorklowanie. The connecting element in all these incidents was the use of characteristic full masks during diving, which have become extremely popular worldwide in recent years and have thus led to countless counterfeits.

On the island of Maui in Hawaii, three people have already died as a result of an almost identical incident – snoorking in full mask. Such a situation could not go unnoticed and local authorities have launched an investigation into the matter. While investigators are still awaiting reports on the cause of death, some safety concerns have been raised by the design of the masks.

Heidi Williams, the partner of one of the victims who died while using the mask stated that her boyfriend was an experienced swimmer and lifeguard. She is now considering taking legal action against the mask manufacturer.

Critics of the full-face mask in question claim that its design leads to a build-up of carbon dioxide inside, which can lead to disorientation or even unconsciousness in some people.

Since the mask has been on the market for 2-3 years, mostly beginners have been buying it. It is possible that more testing needs to be done.” – says Mark Stanley, owner of Bamboo Reef Dive Centers in San Francisco[/blockquote].

Stanley also pointed out that such users are more prone to panic attacks or hyperventilation.

As it turns out snoorkling is the leading cause of fatal accidents in Hawaii. The health department reports that between 2007 and 2016, 156 tourists died when they decided to enjoy the activity. However, in the recent 13 days, it has been as many as nine people, hence the authorities’ concern and desire to find the causes.
