Walking in the mountains can be quite demanding and requires a lot of stamina. However, anyone who has seen the equipment used by divers in past decades knows that combining the two is a challenge of the extreme kind.
Everything seems even more impressive when we consider that the Englishman is already 58 years old and the outfit in which he set off for the mountains weighs 60 kg! As you can see, such minor adversities are not able to break the spirit of this extraordinary man, who has already completed the first and extremely demanding stage, during which he reached the summit of Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the whole of Great Britain.
I will be wearing a helmet, big weights, a diving suit and a couple of pairs of big boots, so you can understand for yourselves that this is not ideal mountain hiking gear! I don’t know what challenges I will be facing. I haven’t climbed any of the peaks before, so it’s really going to be very exciting,” said Scott.
Lloyd Scott decided to take up the challenge and did so to support a good cause. With his unusual stunt, he wants to draw attention and encourage people to donate to disadvantaged and disabled young people struggling with loneliness.
It should be noted that this is not the first time Scott has taken on a demanding challenge. In 2002, he ran the London Marathon… wearing a diving helmet, of course. Admittedly, it took him 6 days, but he achieved his goal. The Englishman has been working for charities for 30 years and in that time he has managed to raise a total of over £5 million!
As he himself has announced, the conquest of the ‘Three Peaks’ is the culmination of his career in undertaking extraordinary and extreme challenges on behalf of charities. For his dedication and achievements he was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2005.
