A long awaited novelty has recently appeared on the diving equipment market – Oceans S1 Supersonic recreational computer. The device produced in Sweden has a very interesting specification and is the first dive computer equipped with ultrasonic communication.

It all started with an idea and the positive reception of the diving community, which financially supported the project on the popular crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. In fact, it was not the first time that an innovative idea from the diving industry, following this path, entered the implementation phase and found its way to general sale.

Oceans S1 dive computer It is worth mentioning at this point that the creators and the S1 computer were helped a lot by the fact that Fabien Cousteau gave them his support. The grandson of the famous explorer Jaques Cousteau and continuator of his underwater mission became the face associated with the whole project and certainly made it credible in the eyes of divers around the world.

The Oceans S1 is a fully wireless device, both in terms of data transfer and battery charging. The internal memory allows you to record 500 dives or 80 h, while the battery on a full charge will allow for 10 h spent underwater. The device is available in 4 colour options: Oceans Yellow, Shallow Blue, Living Coral and Abysmal Black.

During a dive, those using Oceans S1 Supersonic can get the attention of their partners at the touch of a button. Notifications are received in the form of vibrations and a visual message displayed on the computer screen, indicating which of our companions is trying to communicate with us. Up to eight computers can be linked simultaneously, and signals can be transmitted underwater over distances of up to 20m.

Colour variants of the Oceans S1 supersonic computer Available functions include a 3D digital compass and a night mode with light reduction for diving in dark waters. The computer can operate in air, recreational nitrox and freediving modes. The device uses the Buhlmann ZHL-16C algorithm with gradients and the maximum operating depth is set at 50 metres.

The computer comes with the Oceans app, which runs on iOS and Android. The logbook can be synced via Bluetooth with the app, which will read our location and add a geotag of the dive site to the record. Logbook entries can be expanded with photos, and the Oceans app also has a smart filter that automatically colour corrects photos to bring them back to their true colours.
